I stopped watching TV a long time ago and instead follow all my favourite shows on DVD. Unlike most cartoon shows family guy doesn’t seem to have slipped as the years went by, instead it seems to get funnier and funnier. There is a significant difference between what’s being shown in the US versus what being shown in Europe, so sometimes we get left behind. That may be so but there is no shortage of laughs with this seasons boxset, if anything i enjoyed it more than the previous season 9. I expected the writing would have slipped by now and it would only appeal to loyal fans but every episode was hilarious. I was looking forward to the 150th episode and i think it paid off, even after all this time family guy retains its place in the big leagues of entertainment without feeling old or mediocre. Family guy has come a long way now since the older DVD sets, in the past we had to be happy with a dull picture format but now Fox have put in the effort making it more crisp and appealing for the viewer. Finally they saw the need to move to widescreen and it will be greatly appreciated by the fans.
Included along with the 15 episodes is the brilliant whodunit episode starring James Woods and the fantastic “tearjerker” American Dad episode, a nice little bonus for family guy fans who may have not seen it yet. The usual extras you would expect like deleted scenes and commentaries are all here, its certainly surpassed season 9 when it comes to value. Family guy season 10 is available now and well worth picking up if you are a fan, or if you didn’t catch the last series when it aired.
